KADUNA, Nigeria — Governor Senator Uba Sani, CON, has launched the 2026 Wet Season Agricultural Support Programme, flagging off the distribution of 500 truckloads of free fertilizer alongside mechanization equipment to benefit approximately 150,000 smallholder farmers across Kaduna State’s 23 Local Government Areas.

The flag-off ceremony, held at Murtala Square, Kaduna, represents one of the state’s largest seasonal agricultural interventions and underscores the administration’s emphasis on food security, rural economic development, and increased agricultural productivity.

According to Governor Uba Sani, the initiative reflects his administration’s long-term strategy of transforming agriculture from a seasonal intervention into a major driver of economic growth.

“From the outset of this administration, we made a deliberate decision to reposition agriculture from a seasonal intervention into a strategic engine of economic transformation.”

The Governor stated that Kaduna State increased its agricultural allocation from ₦1.48 billion in 2023 to more than ₦100 billion in the 2026 Budget, representing approximately 11.65% of total state expenditure, exceeding the Malabo Declaration target of allocating at least 10% of public expenditure to agriculture.

Governor Uba Sani highlighted several achievements recorded under the administration:

• Distribution of more than 900 truckloads of fertilizer over the last two farming seasons.
• More than 69,000 farmers supported through the Tallafin Noma (A Koma Gona) Program.

• Continued improvement in security, enabling thousands of farmers to return safely to their farmlands.
