The Police Service Commission is proud to announce the inauguration of the Police Veterans’ Foundation, a pivotal initiative aimed at providing comprehensive support to retired police officers as they transition from active service. The official launch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, at the Auditorium of the Police Service Commission Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Conceived by a group of retired police officers who recognized the unique challenges faced by their peers, the Foundation is committed to assisting retired officers in overcoming the hurdles of post-service life.

Pastor Umo Eno, a distinguished son of a former police officer and the current Governor of Akwa Ibom State, will serve as the Chairman of the event. The launch is expected to attract a host of dignitaries, including governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and industry leaders.

Dr. Solomon Arase, CFR, the retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Police Service Commission, emphasized that the Foundation’s mission is to provide a supportive environment for police veterans. It aims to offer guidance, resources, and opportunities that facilitate a smooth transition to civilian life, ensuring their well-being and successful reintegration into society.

The Foundation’s goals include offering comprehensive support to police veterans, aiding in their adjustment to civilian life, and providing for the education and skill development of police officers’ children. Additionally, it plans to leverage the expertise of retired officers in training programs for the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission.

Dr. Arase assured that the Police Veterans Foundation is dedicated to making a significant and positive difference in the lives of police veterans and their communities.

The event will also feature a notable presence of retired senior police officers, including Alhaji Aliyu Attah, GCON, Chairman of the Body of retired Inspectors General of Police, who will lead a delegation to the launch.
