 FCT: It’s N17bn – Wike begs Senate to pass budget

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appealed to the Nationwide Assembly to approve the N17bn appropriated for the FCT Administration in the 2024 funds.

Wike made the appeal when he looked sooner than the joint Senate and Condominium of Representatives Committees on FCT, in Abuja on Friday.

He outlined that N17.1bn became allocated to the FCT Administration, adding that the amount became allocated to total deserted projects and withhold the implementation of essential projects.

He acknowledged that of the amount, N5bn became allocated as counterpart funding for the Higher Abuja Water Supply project and N4.5bn for the construct and building of Nigeria Cultural Centre and Millennium Tower.

He furthermore acknowledged that N3bn became allocated for the rehabilitation of the federal secretariat, whereas N4bn became allocated for the completion of the Vice President’s draw.

The minister added that N609.7m became budgeted for the settlement of residential and administrative center lodging for global organisations in the FCT.

“The cash is factual N17.1bn, so what can I pronounce instead of to claim, please abet us poke it,” the minister instructed the lawmakers.

On the performance of the 2023 funds, Wike acknowledged N15.5bn became appropriated for infrastructural model, adding, however, that simplest N8bn became launched, representing 52 per cent.
